About Us

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and Tail Gunner Off-Road.

My name is Jason Layne and I have been lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time out on the trails. During that time, I have seen and learned some things. We helped recover a machine that rolled halfway down a mountain and another time witnessed a vehicle burn because no one carried a fire extinguisher. A 5-foot tree branch and a ratchet strap to help limp a machine home with a broken axle shaft. Or that smashed finger held together with half a t-shirt and some tape. I realized you are ever as prepared as you think you are.

My days of heading out for the weekend with nothing more than a tank of gas, a case of beer, 4 hot dogs and 3 buns have passed.  Now, you may hear me say “It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it” and “hope for the best but be prepared for the worst”.

Ultimately these lessons led to this vision “Help create a safe and fun experience for all who off-road.”  That is what we intend to do at Tail Gunner Off-Road.

Why Tail Gunner?

“Tail Gunner” is a nod to the brave men in World War II.  A Tail Gunner was to be positioned in the back of a bomber plane.  Much like the person, with the same name, at the back of the pack on the rides today.   Their job was and is to keep everyone in front of them safe and secure.
